Politically politicish politics after the jump.
Basically:
* The Steele dossier formed an essential part of the intial and all three renewal FISA applications against Carter Page.
* Andrew McCabe confirmed that no FISA warrant would have been sought from the FISA Court without the Steele dossier information.
* The political origins of the Steele dossier were known to senior DOJ and FBI officials, but excluded from the FISA applications.
* DOJ official Bruce Ohr met with Steele beginning in the summer of 2016 and relayed to DOJ information about Steele’s bias. Steele told Ohr that he, Steele, was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected president and was passionate about him not becoming president.
Having read it now, I think the most damning hit Nunes lands is the fact that the DOJ didn’t voluntarily reveal the origins of the Steele dossier to the FISA Court when applying for a warrant. Even if they weren’t obliged, the political sensitivity of the probe would have made that basic good practice. Comey and McCabe should answer for that.
Overall, I’d say it’s interesting, but doesn’t really change anything.

Republican Senator John McCain, who points out in a statement that the US intelligence community concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, has indirectly condemned Trump’s attack on the FBI this morning.
“The latest attacks on the FBI and Department of Justice serve no American interests – no party’s, no president’s, only Putin’s”, he said.
The 2008 presidential candidate adds that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation must continue unimpeded.
“Our nation’s elected officials, including the president, must stop looking at this investigation through the warped lens of politics and manufacturing partisan sideshows. If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him.” ( BBC )

Like most Liberals, I tend to yawn because I think Donald Trump is a racist, a crook and a recalcitrant asshole. If things somehow get better for the country under 45's bullyship, then I’ll give credit where it’s due.
I wish Bill Clinton hadn’t had his cigar smoked by the young intern and then lied so outwardly and so blatantly about it, behaving like, well, Donald Trump.
I concur with your assertion that if the memo has been altered _at all_ then it’s not the same document.
